It has been a wonderful last couple of days. Our group has arrived safely in Arequipa, Peru on Sunday, where we were immediately greeted by kind hosts at the airport. For many of us, we were thriving on very little sleep during our travels -- roughly 3-4 hours! Still, we were all excited for the week ahead. Later that day, we attended church at El Camino, the Querfeld's church, where we all participated in communion and a time of worship with other Peruvian Believers. After a delicious meal of pollo a la brasa, we headed off to see the orphanage for the first time, Hogar Nueva Esperanza, where we were greeted by bunch of excited kids. They rushed up to us, expecting tons of hugs and warm smiles, which we were delighted to give. We ended off the night with a birthday celebration for David Bolos, the founder of the orphanage and Tim Bolos' father. The party featured gifts, speeches, and performances from various kids in the home of many different age groups. It was amazing to see the vast amount of appreciation and love that the children expressed toward David Bolos and what the home has meant to them over the years. The kids demonstrated their gratitude for the ministry and all that Mr. Bolos has done to enrich their lives. After a short time of devotionals and team debrief to wrap up the night, it was a good way to begin the trip on day 1.
